The search for the UK's Favourite Parks is back this summer and we're calling on you to get nominating and help us shine a light on the green spaces that hold a special place in the nation's hearts.

Our local parks have acted as a sanctuary for so many of us over the past few years and the UK's Favourite Parks award celebrates these spaces in the post-pandemic world.

Is your favourite park a special place on the doorstep to get outdoors, run around, relax, play, meet with loved ones and more? If so, then now's your chance to ensure it is in the running to be named amongst the UK's favourites. Nominate your local park today.

If you've found yourself at the local park more over the last two years, then you're not alone. In our new study, nearly half of respondents said they have visited local parks more often than they used to as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Separate research has shown that access to nature was one of the main ways people supported their mental health during lockdowns. Now is our chance to celebrate the spaces we've all relied on.

Parks are powerhouses. Places where people can come together, supporting our physical health and mental wellbeing and helping build resilience in the natural environment. It's clear that we now value them more than we ever have. As we look forward to a summer filled with more picnics, more kick-abouts and more catch-ups at our treasured local parks, take a moment to celebrate all that they mean to you by nominating for UK's Favourite Parks.

Three parks have already taken home the title of UK's Favourite Park and this year we want to find more of the nation's favourite green spaces. Nominations are now open and run for just over three weeks, closing at noon on Tuesday 5th July. Any publicly accessible local park or green space is eligible to be nominated.

All eligible nominations will then go head-to-head in a public vote to find the nation's favourites. To nominate your favourite local park and make sure it is in the running all you need to do is tell us why it is so special to you and include an original photo showcasing the park in all its splendour. Head over to the nomination form and tell us about your favourite local park today!

Voting will open at the beginning of July and run until mid-August. Any park finishing in the top 20% in the voting will obtain the status of "Local Favourite", whilst the park to top the vote overall will gain the coveted honour of being the UK's Favourite Park 2022.

This year, UK's Favourite Parks is also celebrating HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. It is ten years since the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge legally protected 1,392 parks and green spaces across the country to celebrate our Patron's Diamond Jubilee. These spaces form a nationwide living legacy to Her Majesty's time on the Throne which will last in perpetuity. To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, we are encouraging all parks protected as Queen Elizabeth II Fields to nominate themselves for UK's Favourite Parks. The space to receive the most votes will take the special one-off title of the UK's Favourite Queen Elizabeth II Field 2022.

Local parks are good, and they do good. For people, for places and for the planet. Having acted as our local sanctuaries for the last few years now is the time to celebrate all that they mean to us in the post-pandemic world. Nominate your favourite local park for UK's Favourite Parks 2022 today, share why it is so special to you and together let's celebrate our local green spaces!
