Before starting your application to protect your park or green space, please make sure you have read our Protection Guidance and have all your supporting documents and information handy.

Once you’re ready to apply, please complete the six-stage application form below. You can save the form and return to it later if you need to, but it’s always good to have everything you need already at your fingertips.

After you’ve submitted the form, we’ll send an acknowledgement email and our team will get to work reviewing your submission.

To progress your application, we will require evidence of title, a plan of the site and copies of any leases or other formal agreements if applicable. To get started please tell us if the land is registered at the relevant Land Registry.

Registered Land Group

If any part(s) of the land or facilities you wish to protect is leased please provide details, e.g. pavilion.

You should submit up to date copies of the Register of Title (Folio in Northern Ireland) and Title Plan with your application. We need recent copies so that we can see the current picture for the land. Current copies can be purchased for a nominal fee from the relevant Land Registry: England and Wales,Scotland or Northern Ireland
If you do not wish to protect all of the land on the Title Plan, please provide a copy of the Title Plan clearly outlining in coloured ink the area you wish to protect.
In submitting an application to protect a green space you will need to have first obtained any necessary internal approvals, e.g. if you are a local authority you will probably have obtained approval from a Council or Committee meeting or from another delegated authority. Please tick here if you are providing a copy of the Meeting Minute approving the proposal to protect your green space(s). If the approval is by way of another delegated authority, please provide written confirmation from the representative with authority to approve the proposal.
Registered Land - No

If the land is unregistered the root of title confirming your ownership may be in the form of a Conveyance, a Deed of Gift or similar and will include a plan of the land that you own. If you have a lease of 99 years or longer you will need to provide us with a copy.

Formal declaration

In submitting an application you are confirming that the information is correct to the best of your knowledge and you will sign the Deed of Dedication (or Minute of Agreement in Scotland) within six months (excepting any extenuating circumstances) of us confirming that your green space is eligible for protection. You also confirm your acceptance that whilst Fields in Trust does not charge a fee to protect a green space, should you submit an application and subsequently fail to complete the protection process Fields in Trust reserve the right to charge you for costs incurred.
