We’re lucky to work with a range of dedicated, dynamic and determined individuals who all care about parks and green spaces.
We are delighted to have the active support of our Patron HRH The Prince of Wales who shares our commitment to creating a better future for parks and green spaces, to help people and nature thrive. HRH The Prince of Wales was the Patron of our Diamond Jubilee Appeal leading the efforts to secure a legacy of over 1200 protected spaces as a tribute to HM The Queen. In 2013, he took over the role of President from his grandfather HRH The Duke of Edinburgh until becoming Patron in 2024, succeeding Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II who was Patron for an incredible 70 years.
Few resources hold the potential to impact so positively on a wide range of social issues as parks and green spaces. By protecting these spaces in perpetuity Fields in Trust works to ensure that our children and grandchildren will have places to run, move, breathe and play.
We are thrilled to have legendary England footballer and former Lioness Jill Scott MBE as our President. Jill joined us as President in July 2025. She is a long-time advocate for sport’s power to change lives and cares deeply about ensuring young people have access to the opportunities that community parks and green spaces bring.
My journey began on local pitches in Sunderland, and it was those community spaces that really enabled everything that followed. Without Roker Park on my doorstep, I wouldn’t have become an England footballer. But more than that, I’ve seen how sport and green spaces build confidence, friendships, and help young people discover what they’re capable of.
Alongside our Patron and President, we are honoured to have the support of four fantastic Vice Presidents. Our Vice Presidents generously use their time, skills and profiles to support our work in a variety of ways. Our Vice Presidents are:
Christopher Laing OBE DL
Gyles Brandreth
The Lord Howard of Rising
The Marquis of Stafford
We're thrilled to currently have world-renowned environmentalist Tony Juniper CBE as an Ambassador. Tony brings a wealth of expertise and insight on the environmental aspect of protecting green spaces, and has a great appreciation of the benefits green spaces and nature can bring people too.
Our knowledgeable and experienced trustees generously volunteer their time and expertise to support our work. The Council members are elected to three-year terms on a rolling basis at our Annual General Meeting.
