As part of our commitment to applying a robust, data-driven and strategic approach to protecting parks and green spaces, we review and map the quantity and distribution of green space in line with our Guidance for Outdoor Sport and Play.

We are also monitoring the loss of parks and green spaces across the country to help us build a better picture of the trends and how we can stem these losses.

Mapping parks and green spaces

To complement our data and research insights we use the latest digital mapping technology to monitor green space provision across the UK and identify specific areas where Fields in Trust’s legal protection of parks and green spaces can significantly contribute to equity of access and improvements in health and wellbeing.

Mapping our estate of protected parks and green spaces across the country and identifying the regions and communities that are underserved by the provision of recreational space will assist us to understand regional and national trends and inform how we target our resources for protection of parks and green spaces for good.
